So after logging off last night, I have been having trouble getting my comp to load.  It gets stuck on the first image that comes up which is my Asus motherboard display and it just hangs.  I managed to bypass that by tapping f8, but I would like to get some input from my knowledgable gaming friends.

Here is what I have done so far:

In safe mode = ran various scans - malwarebytes, adaware, i tried to run spybot but it wont load - they all came up with nothing so far

When I get a chance and figure out how I plan to run some memtests and harddrive tests - if anyone could suggest a program or website for these that would save me a bit of time.

One more thing, and I don't know if this did anything - I recently hooked up a usb hub, and I had my phone attached through the hub.  That is about the only hardware difference.

I am open to suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

Haha, you nub!

To me, it sounds like your computer may be having trouble loading one of your components. I would try disconnecting everything except for the mouse, keyboard and monitor from your computer. If that works, try connecting things 1 by 1 to see what is causing the problem. If it doesn't work.... Disconnect all non essential components inside your computer... Like take out all but 1 stick of ram, DC any extra HDs, etc

USB stuff can cause it not to bootup cause it thinks an OS is on one of them and tries to boot from them.
It's about destroying the status quo cause the status is not quo....The world is a mess and i just need to rule it.

But he's booting just fine in safemode - that eliminates basic periphs and memory as a problem as those basic device drivers need to be loaded.

Memtest 86 is what I use to if you want to humor yourself be my guest.

What OS? What Motherboard/PSU combo?

Double post - Can't find the edit button. If it is Vista or Windows 7 then make double sure you have your printer/scanner and card readers' disconnected. Just for the safe sake also try your optical drives. But again, basic periphs (Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor) unlikely to be the issue.

the graphics card and RAM have caused similar problems for me at times on my ASUS board running Windows XP. If you have changed either of those lately or if you had to move the graphics card to another slot to add another adapter card you might want to try re-seating your card and/or your RAM.
If you have SATA drives check those cable connections...mine wiggle loose occasionally on the desktop machine.
take proper precautions to get rid of static and unplug the comp from the power outlet and wait a few seconds...remove watches and rings.
