Ok... so tonight my dad called and needed help with his pc. After getting his Messenger up to the latest version to use Remote Assistance we discovered something. Windows sucks. Would not connect no matter what.

So...i went looking for a better way of doing things. A none microsoft way.

So i discovered a tool by the guys who made Tight VNC. Its called Teamviewer. www.teamviewer.com

Its a great app and requires very little knowledge by the person on the other end.

All they do is execute a file that just runs in memory without installing anything.

The program gives them an ID and a password to give to you to connect to them.

You install a program from Teamviewer. It's very small. You plugin the info and your connected.

I used it last night and it was great. No need to worry about firewalls or ports. It just works.

thanks, Heckle. I'm always looking for this type of stuff to help my remote users... I hadn't come across this one yet. We use something similar as a customer to the vendor one of our major applications when we run into to trouble and they have to remote in. Maybe its the same program and they have bought the commercial version which allows them to customize it

Used the app again last night. I do love it but as with all things too good to be true i am scared that it does something bad.
How can something this nice be free?
