Anyone watch Lost?  I can't believe I have never brought this up before, but I have been following this show almost as religiously has Havoc follows 24.  Well last night was the season finale and all I can say is H O L Y S H I T!!!!!  This past season has been fantastic, but that last episode was truely epic.  What a rollercoaster ride of emotions, action, and revelations.  Of course no episode of Lost would be complete without creating even new mysteries while they shed light on old ones.  If you are fan and haven't seen it, go watch it.  If you never watched it, go rent season 1 and start.  The mythology of the show seems to be mysteriously rooted in ancient Egyptian lore.  If anyone would like specifics just let me know.  Damnit I have to wait till 2010 for the next season.  I guess I will have to raid till then.

*******Warning Spoilers**********

According to curent theory Jacob seems to represent Sobek an Egyptian God.  Apparently Sobek's focus was order.  It has been hinted that in Egyptian mythology, he is credited with starting the world and maintaining order in it, ie. the fertility of the Nile River.  Of course that other guy with Jacob is his antithesis.  If you want quote bible references then he would be Esau, in ancient Egyptian he would be Seth - god of chaos, destruction, and infertility.  Some theories on various Lost forums think that other guy is the smoke monster, but I believe they are completely wrong.  The two are definitely separate entities.

I agree with you about them both being 2 separate things. However, whoever that guy was that was sitting on the beach with Jacob and said he wanted to kill him when he found a loophole, somehow turned into Locke... I want to know who that guy is! And, I really liked the guy that was playing Jacob =(

I dont understand why he didnt realize that the "Locke guy" was there to kill him. And why after being stabbed, he was "trying to help him" by saying "they're coming...." Which I am assuming that he meant Richard and the others were coming. Also... I wonder if when Jacob went to see that chick in the hospital... if he was telling her that Locke's body was really going to still be on the plane and to bring it to Richard.... cause she knew the "code" of "What lies in the shadow of the statue?"

yeah... I really like Fringe. I think it is coming back in the Fall (yay !)

I think I would really like Lost as well, but for some reason missed the beginning episodes and never got into it. I think I'll have to do as X suggests and get the previous seasons on DVD... ps. Evangeline Lily is Canadian!! w00t

Fringe and Lost are both products of JJ Abrams.  This guy really knows how to construct a serious story.  I love Fringe and Lost.  If I have a choice I always watch those 2 first.  Plus he has the new Star Trek movie under his belt which will surely spawn sequels if not another TV show.  After all they did create an alternate reality in the Star Trek universe so they are pretty much free to do whatever they want now, regardless of previous Star Trek lore.

One thing I did notice with Abrams and his creations is the ever present theme of destiny vs. free will.  The line between the two is quite muddy in all of his shows/movies.  Most of his characters believe they choose their own paths, but their choices ended being the footprint for a larger destiny that is beyond their control or influence.

If I wanted to sit at my computer and watch it.  Screw that!  Lost needs to be watched on the big screen in HIGH DEF.  Only poor people stream free tv from the internet.

I also wondered why Jacob didn't know that evil guy had taken over Locke's body and was on his way to kill him.  It's been a few months since I watched the finale, but did Juliet get the bomb off?  I think I remember she was hitting it and then it went to a white screen with LOST on it, but I wasn't for sure.  What do you think is going to happen next season?  Do you think the bomb worked and put them back on the airplane as though it never happened?  OR do you think the bomb worked by pushing them into the correct year?  I suppose if they went to the current year, then we would know more about Jacob because the rest of the crew could be back together again.  Will Locke come back to life and be himself or is he going to be taking over Jacob's roll now that Jacob is dead?  The writers/producers said that they were going to be answering a lot of questions this last season, but I swear it's just created more questions!  I love this show.

Of course the most important question:  Who will Kate end up with, Sawyer or Jack?  I'm kind of hoping Sawyer but then I hope Jack....do you think when they tried to be together and it didn't work, the writers were telling us that they shouldn't be together?  Is it just me, or has Kate gotten uglier throughout the seasons?
