If anyone can help me out with these questions that would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Should I get the 32 bit version or 64 bit?  And why?

For those of you who did upgrade, did you completely reinstall WoW or other games or did you just transfer your game (WoW) files over to the new OS?

I plan on doing a clean instal and wiping my hard drive.  I will be saving all important files on my external.  I am just trying to figure out if copying my WoW file would cause issues.  I have been reading mixed results.  While complete reinstalling WoW and my add ons would make for a nice clean start, it is also very time consuming.  Time is a rare luxury these days.

You would only have to consider the 64bit version if you have a 64bit Processor.

I've installed W7 on 3 machines so far. My first install, I did on my desktop. The hardware is about 3-4 years old (I do need to upgrade) but I did a FULL install which included a Format of the drives. I backed up all my data to the server first and ran the install. The full install with format took about 20 minutes. I only had to upgrade my video drivers, install my Virus Protection and copy my data back over and I was up and running again. Great experience. However, I still do not have all of my original software and settings. I install and change settings as needed since I use this machine as my backup.

I felt a little dangerous on my 2nd and 3rd installs (both laptops). I choose to try out W7 upgrade feature. Prior to WINDOWS 7, I would've never had considered it. I dl'd MS upgrade utility in order to find out which apps were compatible. It informed me to UNinstall my Virus Protection, ITunes, and on one laptop it told me that I needed to upgrade the BIOS. All of which I did. The upgrade took about an hour and half, however, after the upgrade everything was configured and ran just as it had been before. I just needed to reinstall my Virus Scan and Itunes and my laptops and they were ready to play.
(Side NOTE: You can only upgrade if currently on MS Vista)

So, I would recommend upgrading from Vista to W7 first. If you have any issues you can always reformat and do a fresh install.

That's my 2 cents.

I really want to do a fresh install.  I dont mind reinstalling everything else.  I like the idea of having a fresh start, since I have been having issues with my video card and/or drivers (but that is another story entirely).  I thought I could only buy the upgrade version or the full instal version anyway?   Hmmm.....

I did a fresh install on my machine. I had copied my entire WoW folder and moved it over and it runs great.

64bit Ultimate on my main (advenger's aswell) runs smooth as butter ( Photoshop 64 mmmmmmmmm).

32bit on Intel dualcore notebook, just as good as my main.

32bit RC on my netbook. Runs good but kills battery fast (I should upgrade to retail to fix that).

Fresh installed on all of them. I hate doing the upgrade route, it just feels dirty. You shouldn't have any issues with drivers. It even runs my custom X-fi drivers without a hitch.
